A TRIBUTE TO JOHN A. SCARINGE, SR.

John Scaringe had a song in his heart. Just ask anyone who spent some time with him. He sang with purpose and passion in this very church, lifting his voice in praise as part of the choir. He recently warbled his rendition of "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" while sharing the father-daughter dance with DeLynn at her wedding. Also this summer, he sang about "Maria" with Family Players friends at Tawasentha Park, attacking his "flibbertygibbit" line with gusto!
Always a huge help behind the scenes, John took opportunities to stretch his acting muscles, too. He took on the role of a lifetime -- Daddy Warbucks -- while also relishing his real-life role as dad to DeLynn and John Jr. and the hundreds of kids he welcomed with opened arms. And John shared songs of love with his wife, Diane, throughout their decades of partnership.
When John was involved -- whether with a Family Players show, Youth Court, Scouts, Sand Creek or the many other groups he loved -- you just knew it was going to be something special. "Just like today. Because his bright, unflagging spirit is with us as many of those talented folks with whom he shared stage time and life time join to sing in his honor.
John found joy in everyday things and spread his love around naturally. And he left us with sweet, fun, loving memories as well as a sterling example of a life well-lived. John's song may have been cut short yet he lives in our hearts forever. Now we are his song - may we do him proud.
